William Gibson of Cincinnati included a bequest in his will of $25,000 for Cedarville College. As a business owner in Cincinnati, he was considered to be a “substantial citizen.” As an active member in a Reformed Presbyterian church in Cincinnati, he included this bequest in his will in 1888, when Cedarville College existed in name only. Gibson died in 1891.
