Abstract
Through improved methods of communication, tutors can combat tutee hesitancy, encourage collaboration, and increase tutee independence. This panel introduces explicit techniques for facilitating tutor-tutee communication throughout the session. We will chronicle a tutoring session from start to finish, beginning with the elimination of mental blocks by transitioning from a verbal to a scribal modality, incorporating interactive visual aids (pyramid chart, branch diagrams, etc.), and concluding with methods for encouraging self-editing and reducing tutee dependence.
