Review
Fetch is both a heartfelt and simplistic picture book. Following the escapades of a dog playing fetch on a beach, the author depicts a heartwarming story of adventure, mystery, and playfulness. The bulk of the book, which is composed of illustrations, keep to the theme of simplicity. With the pictures created in Photoshop, the author utilizes both cool and warm colors throughout the story, and creates realistic settings and characters, though flat and lacking texture. While also using all lowercase letters, all of these design elements add to the aesthetic of the story, creating captivating illustrations. Recommended for early readers at the home, library, or school, Fetch is a darling story that kids will love, perhaps seeing their own dog in the main character, motivated to play fetch themselves. Jess Elder, Centennial Library Intern, Cedarville University.
