A crocodile who longs for a home must sneak out of the pages of a book at night and prove to a family that he will make a good pet. The family is not sure whether they can trust the crocodile, but his kindness will surely win them over. Panzieri tells a lighthearted tale about the importance of acceptance and of defeating stereotypes, a heavy message made attainable for all ages in part through the use of color by the illustrator. The particular themes might be missed because of the silly illustrations and almost festive narrative, but this book makes for a highly entertaining read nonetheless. Additional Selection.
