D. Bruce Lockerbie has been on the faculty of The Stony Brook School since 1957. His work with college-preparatory students has included teaching English and Bible, while serving as chairman of the English and Fine Arts departments, and most recently Dean of Faculty. He now holds the appointment of Staley Scholar-in-Residence.
Bruce Lockerbie received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in English and American Studies from New York University. He has also been awarded the doctor of humane letters by Eastern College. Lockerbie is the author, co-author, or editor of more than 30 books, whose topics range broadly: aesthetics, biography, literary and social criticism, history, education, family living, and popular theology. A frequent lecturer at colleges, universities, and seminaries, Bruce Lockerbie was the Christian College Consortium's Visiting Lecturer in 1982-83, the Eugene Ross McCarthy Lecturer at Chautauqua Institution in 1983, the Thomas F. Staley Lecturer at Cornell University in 1984, and the W.B. Griffith Thomas Memorial Lecturer at Dallas Theological Seminary in 1985.
He is president of Fatherlove, Inc., publisher of the Fatherlove Newsletter, and presents FATHERLOVE: A SEMINAR FOR PARENTS to various audiences across North America.
He is also president of Stewardship Consulting Services, an educational agency. As a consultant, Lockerbie has worked with schools and colleges in the United States, Canada, Great Britain , Switzerland, Ethiopia, Kenya, India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Japan.
Married in 1956, Bruce and Lory Lockerbie have two married sons and a daughter.
A one-time national champion and world-ranked middle-distance runner for New York University and the New York Athletic Club, Bruce Lockerbie now concentrates on breaking 90 on every golf course he plays.
