Dr. Breshears chairs the Division of Theological Studies at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon and has held that position since 1980.
Dr. Breshears earned a B.S. degree in mathematics and education from the University of New Mexico, a Master of Divinity from Conservative Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. from Fuller Theological Seminary.
At Western Seminary, Dr. Breshears initiated the Master of Arts in Exegetical Theology program and chaired the seminary's Curriculum Revision Committee. Prior to coming to Western Seminary, Dr. Breshears served as a missionary in the Philippines, teaching at Faith Academy, the largest school for missionary children in the world.
Dr. Breshears served as an "adjunct pastor" at Lents Baptist Church for 14 years and served as president of the Evangelical Theological Society in 1993. He is a contributing editor for the Journal of Psychology and Theology. In addition to teaching and lecturing at a number of colleges and seminaries, Dr. Breshears preaches or teaches in many churches.
His wife, Sherry, works in computer network communications for Bank of America. They have two natural sons, Donn and David, and an adopted daughter, Cyndee.
