Description

The Olney Hymns, first printed in England in 1779, was a collaboration of John Newton and William Cowper, the poet. The hymns were written for use in Newton's rural church in Olney, England. The Cedarville University copy of the Olney Hymns is a photographic facsimile first edition printed in London in 1779. Note that there is no music in the hymnal. The words were sung to tunes well known to the worshipers and announced by the worship leader.
