Opened in August 2024 as part of the One Thousand Days Transformed Campaign, the Scharnberg Business and Communication Center houses facilities for the Robert W. Plaster School of Business, the Center for the Advancement of Cybersecurity, and the Berry Center for Free Enterprise. The building was named in honor Lorne C. Scharnberg, the father of Mark Scharnberg. A 1997 Cedarville graduate who donated significantly to the building’s construction. Lorne Scharnberg is a trustee emeritus at Cedarville University, serving on the board since 1994 and transitioning to emeritus status in 2018.
Including a 500-seat classroom that can be split into three smaller units, the space focuses on expanding classroom accessibility for an increasing student body. It also includes a state-of-the-art cybersecurity laboratory, computer equipped classrooms, and The Café, a quick, healthy on-campus dining option for students. The Scharnberg hosts offices for the departments of Business and Communication.
