An Unexpected Career
An unsolicited Facebook message from a total stranger would completely change Devin Robinson’s life.
Devin grew up in a small town in South Berwick, Maine. He came to Cedarville in 1999, majoring in broadcasting. It was while he was hosting a radio show for WCDR Radio (now Resound Radio) that he heard news of the terrorist attacks on 9/11. By February of 2002, Devin enlisted as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force.
While in the Air Force, Devin served in the office of special investigations in Washington, and he served a year with an Air Force band, Tops and Blue, traveling all over the globe.
After returning to the states, Devin served as a deputy media relations officer for the presidential Air Force wing, a role that even allowed him to shake hands with President George W. Bush.
He was then assigned to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, North Carolina, before transitioning to the inactive reserves.
Devin decided to return to Cedarville to earn his MBA degree, joining the inaugural class in 2013.
But it was in 2019 that he received a Facebook message from a total stranger asking him to return to active duty and move to D.C. to become deputy public affairs officer for the Air National Guard.
Unbeknownst to Devin at the time, he was about to take this job at the busiest time for the Air National Guard – the COVID-19 pandemic and the January 6 Capitol attack in 2021.
Listen to hear Devin share his story on the Cedarville Stories Podcast.
