Vera Andrew Harvey Collection

 

Vera Andrew was born in Cedarville, Ohio, in 1885 and was a 1903 graduate of Cedarville College. After graduating from Cedarville, Vera earned a second B.A. degree from Mather College and a Master's degree from Columbia University. From 1916 to 1922 she was on the faculty of Marshall College in West Virginia. She married John Speed Harvey in 1922 and continued various public activities in West Virginia well into her 90s. Vera served as poet laureate of West Virginia from March 1960 to March 1961. She wrote two books of poetry, Forget Me Nots and Touching the Stars. Vera died in 1992 at the age of 106.
