According to Ame Dyckman, lemmings are “small, fuzzy, illiterate rodents.” This is illustrated quite clearly in the book, and readers follow First Mate Foxy and Captain PB as they try to tell lemmings to read the book that contains some important instruction for their species. Dyckman’s audience will intensely enjoy watching the adorable creatures in this book interact with each other and will giggle over the frustration Foxy experiences with the little lemmings. The storyline is creative, and the illustration of said storyline is cute. This book, while aimed at a younger audience, can delight the older reader just as much as the younger one. Dyckman’s book would be a hilarious addition to any children’s collection.
