This picture book describes the American Flag with pictures that represent a piece of America’s history. The illustrations are beautiful and remind us how wonderful our country is. The people depicted in this book are diverse. There are African Americans, Caucasians, old, and young people shown standing together to represent one nation. This book could be used by a librarian or teacher to give a brief overview of our country’s foundations and if children had questions about a certain picture, an adult could recommend books based on the child’s interest. This book would be a great read around the summer time to explain holidays such as Memorial Day and Independence Day. Recommended. Lydia Jacobsen, Centennial Library Intern, Cedarville University
