Through playful illustrations brimming with color and characters from many walks of life, this story explains prejudice from a child’s perspective, relating James’ command in the Bible for the church to not show partiality. Current day examples of prejudice and welcome in familiar contexts like church and the playground bookend a story James told about a church that favored the wealthy over the less fortunate. In keeping with current trends, the book focuses on telling a moral rather than sharing a story to show children the consequences of treating people unfairly, but the illustrations paint a beautiful picture of how Jesus’s love welcomes everyone, and the storytelling catches up by the end. Parents and Sunday school teachers alike will find this a great resource for showing children how God’s love extends to all people.
