Many children want adventures, but Nina has a special reason to travel—her Nana and Nenek live on completely opposite sides of the world from her and each other. When she visits Nana in England, Nina speaks English, dresses warmly for the rain, and enjoys hot chocolate. When she visits Nenek in Malasia, Nina speaks Malay, feeds the chickens, and enjoys rice. The illustrations show Nina’s two journeys side by side, exploring cultural differences from a curious child’s perspective in mirrored scenes like shopping and the dinner table. Younger children will love following Nina’s journeys, and educators and parents can use her travels as a conversation starter about cultural differences and similarities. Recommended Justin Kemp, Centennial Library Intern, Cedarville University
