Milloo finds her calling to be a teacher at a young age. Reading brings her joy and excitement, but her parents and culture told her that little girls don’t go to school. They’re supposed to stay home. But when she protested enough, her parents let her to go to school and learn English, and she eventually graduated college with honors. When she got married, her husband told her the same things as her parents. He told her to stay home. That didn’t stop her. Her home became her very own classroom, and soon there were schools full of little girls pursuing their education thanks to Milloo. Maryam Faruqi aka “Milloo” is responsible for founding Happy Home Schools in Karachi, Pakistan, which has educated thousands of girls. With this book, the author, Milloo’s granddaughter, inspires children to read, learn, and seek education. This would make a wonderful addition to home, school, and public collections that serve young elementary readers. Highly Recommended. Jordan Davis, Centennial library Intern, Cedarville University.
