James T. Jeremiah was born in New York and graduated from Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson City, New York. He served in pastorates in Panama, New York; Toledo, Ohio; and at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio. In 1953, he left the pastorate to assume the Presidency of Cedarville College, a role he filled until his retirement in 1978, when he then became the Chancellor of the college.
