Comments

The portrait was presented by the artist at a public Labor Day event on the Cedarville College campus in 1947 [See September 6, 1947, Cedarville Herald]. The portrait was then hung in the Cedarville College Library, which at that time also housed the Cedarville community library. When the community library moved out in 1961, the portrait stayed in the College Carnegie library facility, now exclusively the College Library [See July 28, 1962, Xenia Daily Gazette]. Thus, the College assumed ownership and has had the portrait ever since. When a new college library was built in 1967, the portrait went into storage in the new library facility. It has been out of the public eye generally since then.
