This Special Issue includes a selection of articles published in the collection, It’s Instrumental, My Dear Watson: A Collective Investigation of Early Instrumental Practices. The collection was published in 2016 and can be accessed here. The articles in this issue have not passed through the normal blind review process, but rather have been selected for their topical focus on single instruments or instrument groups.
