Abstract
The latest part of an ongoing educational series on trends in pharmacy and pharmaceutical care discusses the role of antiarrhythmic drugs in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. Antiarrhythmic medications that are currently available are reviewed; advice is provided on selecting appropriate antiarrhythmic agents for the treatment of different cardiac dysrhythmias; a short exam on this topic is presented; and tables list the classification, mechanisms, and indications for antiarrhythmic agents and the initial and maintenance dosings of dofetilide that are based on calculated creatinine clearance and QTc interval.
