Abstract
Social workers are always looking for ways to improve serving homeless youth. In this study, we seek to address the following research question, “What are the experiences of homeless youth considered most resilient by their social workers?” We will use a qualitative design to interview a random sample of social workers who work with homeless youth in Ohio. Interviews will consist of semi-structured protocol with questions designed to learn about resilient youth. Data will be transcribed and coded for taxonomic analysis. We expect to find that resilient homeless youth share certain strengths. These strengths include a stable family structure, consistent case management services, positive shelter experiences, regular school attendance, and a steady source of daily nutritional needs.
