Review
The poems in this book are mainly about sports and sports themes such as perseverance. The poet roots for the athlete no matter what skill level and encourages good sportsmanship. There are also a few poems about being wise when taking action and taking risks that other people think are not worth it. One or two of the poems are about silly things like racing trees and hammer-throwing hippos, but even these teach the reader lessons. The poems are simple but really fun to read, even for the adults, but because they are poems, they might be hard for young readers to understand without help. The illustrations are often funny and help aid in understanding the poem. Highly Recommended. Nicole J Spencer, Centennial Library Intern, Cedarville, Ohio.
