Each page of this book offers a small poem about an animal that one might find in the woods. Some of the poems rhyme, while others rely on alliteration and varying lines for poetic emphasis. The painted illustrations give a beautiful look into the lives of different animals in the forest. Though the book and the poems are short, the words used might be challenging for younger readers. Younger readers will enjoy the pictures and older readers will be spurred to read and learn more about the animals mentioned throughout the story.
