The Voice in the Hollow follows Hubert and his journey home from the library through the snowy forest. At first, he hesitates as the forest is dark and cold, but he then encounters a mysterious fox. She helps guide him through the thick of the forest and then as she departs, Hubert feels scared and alone. He then darts for his house and arrives home safely for hot chocolate and time with family. Hubert takes his journey through beautiful and large wintry forest illustrations and arrives at a warm home full of family and safety. This story is fun and warm for a family or classroom read in the winter. It encompasses the fear of traveling alone and the joy of having companionship through it.
