Review
Like Me is a heartwarming book going through a day in the life of a little boy and his experiences, emphasizing his love for his brother with special needs. Imagine waking up on a snowy day prepared to enjoy the fun little things like your dog licking you awake, or pushing your brother down the sledding hill, or having the simple truths like God made you and God loves you spoken to you every night. Each of these activities are part of the things that bring joy to this little boy. But it's more than those little joys, since there are troubles as well. This story highlights the importance of loving one another despite the differences, focusing on the theme of being made in the image of God. The struggle with differences between the two boys is addressed, showing children how to respond with love for each other. This book would be best in homes where parents can explain the importance of God's love for all people, especially where one of the siblings has special needs. Within schools and libraries it can be used to teach children to care for one another even when they're not siblings. This book fits well for the K-2nd grade range because it can be read to children, providing them good lessons, or read by children in 2nd grade giving them insight to God's love and how we are made in His image.
