Review
Told from the point of view of a Cherokee girl, this book follows the story of her family preparing for Ostadahlisiha by picking wild onions. The illustrations are colorful and fill the pages while the sentences are simple and easy for younger readers to comprehend. This book also includes recipes for the food mentioned in the book, and a glossary of the Cherokee words used in the story. For educators, the author’s note provides detail on her research and history of the Cherokee Nation. I recommend this book as a good introduction into talking about Native Nation customs and cultures. Recommended. Lauren Crider, Centennial Library Intern, Cedarville University
