Abstract
To transform the student experience, start by selecting the right students for your institution. The personal interview can be a great tool to aid in the selection process for your program but only if conducted with intentionality, trained individuals, proper safeguards, and the right questions.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss the pros and cons (including biases) associated with various personal interview formats
- Critically evaluate your own program's admissions interview process for biases and opportunities for transformation
- Develop structured interview questions that target specific values critical for health care providers and that align with your program/institution
- Explore alternative methods to help screen for and select quality candidates throughout the admissions process
