Gender and Reading: An Examination of Comprehension in Prose and Poetry

Abstract
This study examined gender differences in reading comprehension of prose and poetry. An AP reading and comprehension exam was administered to 172 high school students. Data analysis indicated that there are few differences in reading comprehension between genders, but reading comprehension is significantly correlated with interest in literature.
