Proposal

This literary review will be an examination of articles that provide information on pregnant women who are incarcerated. We will explore research on the mental health of these women and the effects they have during and after their pregnancy. Our focus will be on the stages of pregnancy as well as the mental health disorders that may occur as a result of their circumstances. These mental health outcomes to be considered include postpartum depression, separation anxiety, and the overall well-being of the child. We will also recognize the aspect of substance use before, during, and after the pregnancy timeline. Overall, the changes in mental health will be reviewed for incarcerated pregnant women.
