The Great Lakes: Our Freshwater Treasure
Rosenstock, Barb
Illustrated by Jamey Christoph
New York, Alfred A. Knopf, 2024
9780593374351. Grades 2-5
This book introduces the reader to the five Great Lakes of North America, explain2ing how the lakes were formed by glaciers, and how they connect to each other and the Atlantic Ocean. The book also gives insight into the value of the Great Lakes as a major source of fresh water, as well as how various practices have degraded the quality of the Great Lakes. Rosenstock concludes the book with a call to action for the reader, that we should take intentional steps to care for the Great Lakes so that they may be preserved for years to come. This book would be a beneficial way to introduce young students to the water cycle and the value of caring for the environment.
Highly Recommended, Nate Borling, Centennial Library Intern, Cedarville University
